Remedial Services: Therapeutic and Empowerment Programmes

a. Video conferencing for Application of Personal Protection Order (PPO)

Victims of family violence who, for reasons of safety and urgency and are unable to go down to the Family Court, may apply for the various forms of Protection Orders at PAVe, via video conferencing facilities. This also allows victims of family violence to receive emotional support and address safety concerns simultaneously.

b. Casework/ Counselling services

At PAVe, Casework / counselling is provided by Senior Social Workers who specialize in family violence work. Victims, perpetrators and witnesses of violence may receive emotional support on a one-to-one basis either on voluntary or mandatory (court mandate) grounds.

c. Group work services

i) Group work services for men who use violence
This is a 12 week programme that challenges the beliefs of men who use violence. The programme introduces alternatives to violence. The group is open to both mandatory and voluntary clients and is facilitated by male-female workers.

ii) Group work for women who experience violence.
This is a 10 week programme that uses an empowerment model to work with women who experience violence. Apart from safety and protection, the programme also looks at gender and socialization issues and seeks alternative ways of problem-solving.

iii) Group work services for children
This programme hopes to help children deal with the trauma of experiencing abuse in their families. Issues of self esteem and promoting alternatives to violent behavior, will be explored.
