Family violence has for a long time been kept within the confines of the Singaporean homes, and considerably weakens the family at all levels. The damage it can do to individuals in the family can have very long term consequences transmitting itself from one generation to another. In a society where the value: 'Strong Families are our Foundation" has always been emphasized, it is imperative that this social issue be addressed to combat the negative effects of family violence.

Family violence has now become a public issue and the government has been instrumental in setting the pace for legal changes and programmes for victims and perpetrators of violence. In response to the need for a more coordinated, holistic and specialized approach to managing family and interpersonal violence cases in Singapore, PAVe centre was set up. It caters to beneficiaries on a national level.
